Wildhorse Kennel is very small breeding kennel. We generally only breed 1 litter in a calendar year after many months of planning and only when we are looking for something to keep for ourselves. There is almost always more than one puppy in a litter, therefore we do place puppies in show, performance & companion homes. When a person/family contacts us, they are asked to complete one of our puppy questionaires. This is only to ensure that the puppy that is placed has the right personality/temperament that we feel would be best suited for them and their lifestyle. Remember getting a dog is a 12-14 year commitment that should never be taken lightly.
We highly recommend our puppies go to puppy classes, as well, for extra socialization and helpful training tips for their new owners. All puppies are given maximum socialization right from the start. They are whelped and raised "under foot" and are handled and played with every day. We expose them to new situations, clicker training, crates, blow dryers, bathes, nail trimming, many other dogs and numerous adults and children. We never raise more than one litter at a time as to ensure that every single puppy in a litter has individual attention and has more than adequate socialization. We are very willing to answer any questions a potential buyer has. We feel this kind of attention and loving care cannot be achieved with more than one litter at a time. We are always available for additional support and advice after the puppy goes to it's new home and throughout it's lifetime.
We never place our puppies into solely "breeding" homes. Any puppy we allow to be left intact will only go to competitive show and/or performance homes, whose main goals are training and showing, but are interested in responsible breeding down the road. These puppies will be co-owned with Wildhorse Kennel. Our companion puppies are sold on a limited registration and *must* be spayed/neutered by their first birthday.General Guarantees: Sire and dam have health clearances and all puppies receive first vaccinations, routine worming, an eye exam by a certified canine ophthalmologist and a health certificate from our veterinarian before going to their new homes. Puppies come with tails docked and dew claws removed and hip, elbow and eye guarantees. Puppies are eligible for registration with both ASCA and AKC.
All puppies are placed in the most suitable home, in our judgement, regardless of color or sex. Companion (non-show) puppies are sold with a spay neuter agreement and have limited registration. New owners who produce documentation of spay or neuter before the puppy's first birthday will receive a refund of $100.
Companion puppies are wonderful friends and/or performance prospects, but are not for breeding. Please understand that careful breeding of puppies on a limited basis is not a made-to-order business. Show vs companion quality is not determined by color and markings apparent at birth but by overall structure, movement and temperment. Structure and movement cannot be judged until a puppy is 8 weeks of age. Both companion and show puppies are physically and mentally sound; the differences are based on a puppy's comparison to the breed standard. As part of the responsibility of breeding, we feel we owe it to the puppy to make sure he or she has the very best possible home. Companion puppies will be available after final evaluation of show prospects at 8 weeks.
With preference to show and performance homes, your puppy will be held with a $100 deposit. If, in our judgment, a puppy that fits your application is not available, the deposit will be refunded; otherwise all deposits are nonrefundable. We reserve the right to deny any home we do not feel is best for a certain puppy. Color preference alone will not be a determining factor for placement of our puppies.
Any claim of hip, elbow or eye problems must be addressed no later than 26 months of age of the dog with veterinarian-documented proof. Proof would include X-rays, OFA evaluation and in the case of an eye abnormality, examination and report from a canine ophthalmology specialist. If a puppy needs to be returned because of a health issue, the purchase price will be refunded only if the dog is returned to us. If a qualified veterinarian determines that a puppy is injured as a result of the owner's poor judgment (for example, overtraining a young dog on agility jumps before the age of one year, resulting in injury) we will take back the dog, but no refund will be made.
If available and agreeable to both parties, a replacement puppy of our choice will be given. The original dog would not necessarily need to be returned if a replacement pup is requested. If no replacement is requested, then 50 percent of purchase price will be refunded and the buyers may keep the dog with the “defect” as long as it is neutered or spayed. We will always take back a puppy that the buyer does not want or is unable to keep regardless of the dog's age.
Pet/companion puppies are $1,000 and sold with limited registration. If the purchaser produces documentation of spay or neuter before a companion dog's first birthday, we will refund $100/neuter/spay of the purchase price.
Show prospect puppies will be co-owned with Wildhorse Kennel and are $1,500.
Transportation costs above and beyond the cost of the puppy are the new owner’s responsibility. Such costs include but are not limited to additional health checks, airline tickets, crates for transport, gasoline reimbursement if we transport.
