Now five months old, Luna, above, and Flip, right, just got back from the August ASCA show in St. Louis where Luna was Best Opposite Sex puppy, and Flip won his group. Way to go, pups!
Ziva and Tony, formerly Faith and Apollo, are not yet three months old, but they are already starting their herding training under the direction of "Dad" David Stocker.
Note: Herding commands are given verbally or in the form of whistles. Each series of short and long "tweets" gives a specific instruction to the dog.
"Walk up" is one of a herding dog's first commands. It means move straight forward toward the sheep.
The "come by" command moves the dog clockwise around the sheep.
Tony gets some encouragement from David to "walk up."
Ziva, who used to be Faith, left, and Tony, who used to be Apollo, right, take their first run through an agility tunnel.
Ziva takes the tunnel by herself -- with caution.
Whew! That was hard work -- but fun. Tony and Ziva find a shady spot to take a breather.
One short year later.....
Beautiful, proud new Momma
